Formed in the 1850s with a U.S. Post Office and local trading post, Sebastopol was populated almost entirely by farmers due to the area’s fertility in terms of plum and apple growing. When a railroad connected Sebastopol to the national rail line, the city’s population exploded. Through name changes, economic ups and downs, and more, Sebastopol has maintained its small-town charm and progressive attitude, creating an ideal destination.
Today, Sebastopol’s crops and fields have almost all been converted into vineyards for Sonoma’s Wine Country.
